ASBESTOS PROJECT DESIGN AND MONITORING

Paradigm prepares comprehensive plans and specifications to provide the building owner and manager with guidelines for asbestos abatement or remediation of hazardous materials. Our designs comply with all federal, New York State, and local rules and regulations. Techniques used for production include conventional drafting, computer-aided drafting, and photodrafting.

Paradigm can also provide specially-trained project monitoring personnel to oversee compliance with all regulations and project plans during asbestos abatement. Paradigm Project Monitors document removal activities, work practices, materials handling, site security, containment system integrity, and air monitoring results. Deviations from approved project plans, containment system problems, and unsafe work practices are swiftly brought to the attention of our clients, allowing them to take appropriate actionwith minimal delay. ASBESTOS BUILDING SURVEYS

Paradigm provides visual inspections and building surveys in accordance with strict professional standards. Licensed inspectors are trained to identify suspected Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) that may be present in your building or plant.

Paradigm performs inspections and surveys covering industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and residential proper ties. Visual inspections involve a thorough assessment of the area in question and provide advice on handling any suspected ACM. Building surveys involve representative samples of building components and laboratory analysis of all suspect materials. Paradigm produces survey results in a detailed formal report that includes a written assessment and the results of all analyses performed.

ASBESTOS ANALYSIS

Paradigm provides expert analysis of suspected asbestos-containing materials, abatement air monitoring samples, personal air monitoring samples, and environmental samples. Our in-house capabilities include Polarized Light Microscopy for the analysis of Friable, Non-Friable, and Organically Bound materials, as well as Phase Contrast Microscopy for the analysis of air samples. We are also one of the few laboratories in New York to possess in-house Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) capabilities. All analyses are performed using NIOSH / ELAP/ NVLAP-approved methodologies.

Our NVLAP-accredited asbestos laboratory (NVLAP Lab Code #200530-0) is staffed 24 hours a day on weekdays and is available on an a request basis weekends and holidays. Combined with our in-house TEM services, this availability means you can rely on Paradigm during emergency situations. Clearance and other priority samples receive immediate attention, assuring you can respond with accurate information.

ASBESTOS AIR SAMPLING

Paradigm provides air-monitoring services in support of asbestos abatement projects. Licensed technicians monitor air quality before, during, and after abatements to ensure a safe work environment and containment of hazardous fibers. All field-sampling technicians are carefully trained in the use of required equipment and strictly follow established work practices. Project activities are thoroughly documented and strict chain-of-custody practices are followed to assure our client of a complete project record. Paradigm partners with Envoy Environmental Consultants for all asbestos field activities. These services are available around the clock, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

PERSONAL AIR MONITORING

OSHA standards for maximum allowable exposure to asbestos fibers in air are 0.1 fiber per cc averaged over 8 hours and 1.0 fiber per cc over 30 minutes. Worker exposure must be measured on an ongoing basis as part of these OSHA standards. Paradigm provides the laboratory analysis and reporting necessary to document compliance with these standards. Samples are routinely analyzed in as little as 24 hours, minimizing the wait for information critical to employee health and safety.
